Cycle Tour Cycling Tips

Road Conditions

Participants should bear in mind that certain road conditions in Mauritius can be dangerous. Roads are narrow and tar conditions can be pitted, have potholes and can be sandy in certain places. All participants are to be on the lookout for uneven road surfaces and traffic utilising the route. Water bottles should be secured in their carriers as road conditions tend to eject water bottles. All participants should carry sufficient tubes for replacing flat tyres en route.

Weather Conditions

At this time of the year, weather conditions are relatively dry with less humidity. Parts of the course which follow the Eastern coast of the island are prone to receiving an onshore breeze, generally blowing from E to W, assisting the cyclists on their route. Rain can also be common at this time of year during some parts of the race (E and SE)
