The Circle, now in its twentieth year, is an organisation made up of a group of Mauritian-based businessmen who meet once a month. The purpose of The Circle is principally for the members to share fellowship and exchange views, but also to arrange events that are fun to attend and at the same time raise money for needy causes.
In the past, the Circle has participated in assisting the needy in Mauritius and Rodrigues, and has been involved in Mauritius Wildlife Preservation.
The Circle tries to provide assistance in a non partisan way, and where possible, with physical rather than financial support.
The Cycle Race is the Circle’s main event in its annual calendar, and raises most of the funds that are allocated to the various needy causes. The event has grown steadily over the last six years, and we hope that this growth will continue. We are starting to attract a growing number of international participants. This race not only benefits the needy, but also the various cycling clubs of Mauritius and, in a small way, our tourist industry.

Cycling has been ongoing for more than 30 years in Mauritius. In 1980, the Federation Mauricienne de Cyclisme was founded. The Association became, the recognised body both nationally and internationally for organising cycling events.
The FMC is affiliated with UCI (Union Cycliste International) and the CAC (Confédération Africaine de Cyclisme) and is duly registered with the competent sports governing body of Mauritius.
Nowadays, we have about 350 duly licenced cyclists enjoying the different aspects of the sport:
Season ranging from early March to late September
